Criteria
✅ The D7 visa is issued only outside Portugal. Only in the country where you have citizenship or residence permit.
✅ 6-7 months for the process. 30-60 days for visa review. After four months - submission of documents to SEF (Immigration Service) in Portugal. In 2-8 weeks, you have your residence permit card in your hands.
✅ You must open a Portuguese bank account with 8,5-16K euro deposit. You can do it remotely with our and partners' services.
✅ Money on account in Portugal. Official consular requirements require a minimum of €8500 in a Portuguese bank account. However, we recommend at least €12,000 to show you are serious about your intentions and increase the chances of a positive response.
✅ Prove income. You can show a passive or remote income of €705 per month or better €1000+ per month for the past year. The income must be transparent, and you should prove that you will have it for at least two more years.
Ideally, you can show both passive and remote. But hundreds of cases of issuing a residence permit just with a stable remote income.
✅ If you show passive income: it is suitable to rent an apartment with proceeds for the year, dividends, pensions, royalties from copyrights, and any other regular and official payments. To prove income, you need to show bank statements for the year.
✅ If you show remote income: contracts with employers and corporate clients. For private entrepreneurs, you need income statements with a year's history and proof that you will have the same income for a minimum of two years (contracts or something else). To prove income, you must show bank statements for the past year.
✅ Rental contract in Portugal for one year. You have to find an apartment in Portugal and show a housing contract registered with the Portuguese tax office (there are some options, read our guides).
✅ If you are with family: you can apply with your partner or on your own. In the second case, the spouse and children will go for family reunification upon arrival in Portugal when the primary applicant receives a residence permit card. The second way is cheaper and more reliable, but you can apply together if there is enough money for the whole family.
✅ You have high qualifications; almost everyone with engineering, medical, business, legal, teaching, scientific education, or/and five years experience in this field (in some cases less).
✅ 2-3 months if you apply for a residence permit from Portugal. The registration of the contract and the first two salaries — 2 months. A residence permit card will come to your address for up to a month.
✅ You can apply immediately in Portugal for a residence permit, bypassing the process of obtaining the D3 visa. For this, you need to have already a working contract with a local corporate client or employer for at least €1800.
✅ You can also apply from another country where you have a passport or a residence permit. A pre-contract from a Portuguese company and proof of education and work experience will be enough.
✅ You can go not as an employee but as a Portuguese private entrepreneur with a corporate client, but with an annual contract and a monthly income of at least €1800
✅ D2 visa is issued only within Portugal.

✅ You must open a company or private entrepreneurship in Portugal. You can easily do this online with a lawyer on our platform. If you choose to open a company, you should get a minimum of €1000-2000 share capital, especially if you plan to develop the company.
✅ You need to show the value of your business and the connection to Portugal: why the company is here and what it will give to the country.
✅ Show some local contracts or at least intentions to cooperate with local companies.
???? It's not necessary, but we recommend to show a deposit in a Portuguese or another bank at least €12000 as proof of livelihood.
✅ If you are with a family. When the principal applicant gets a residence permit card, a family can ask about a reunion.
